Sept End of Month

For my one monthly goal, I hoped to finish my stained glass project during September and I mostly accomplished the goal. It would have been nice if it was entirely finished, but I'm delighted to have the glass all cut and shaped. It still needs to be soldered but my husband usually does that part.

I'm anxious to get this one done so I can make one more panel for our front door. Once finished, all the extra glass will be rehomed.

Courtyard Cabin

When I'm not working on cleaning out our basement, I have been playing around with another quilt design. Inspired by Design Wall Monday, I figured I would post what I have figured out at this point.

The original medallion quilt pattern was kindly provided by Robert Kaufman and is called Courtyard Cabin (it is available here). Their earth-tone version is quite lovely, but I was inspired to play with their new batik line, called Evening Glow. I really love the colors.

I added a couple extra borders to their design because I want it to be big enough for our beds. We have thick pillow-top mattresses that regular queen-size bedding doesn't fit very well.

Now that I have entered the pattern in Electric Quilt, I know how much of the fabrics I need and can pick them up the next time I see a sale. I don't know when I'll get around to this one. It's certainly not at the top of the queue.

Linking up with Design Wall Monday.

Sept Friday Night w/Friends

I wasn't expecting to be able to participate in FNWF this month, but our friend's flight was delayed and I had a couple of hours to kill so I got to work on the one project I was pretty sure I could finish in that time: binding the Unbeweavable quilt!

And it's Finished!!

Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out. I would have preferred to do the binding with black, but I ran out of the fabric.

Sept One Monthly Goal

Since we are preparing to finish our basement so I can take delivery on my new Handiquilter Infinity Long Arm, I have one project I would like to finish during September. We have a stained glass project we started over a decade ago. Obviously, since it's not a sewing project, this is not an official OMG project and I won't be linking up with Elm Street Quilts, but setting the one monthly goal has been working well for me and I want to get this done before we have to move out of the basement. This project has been moved enough times. I want to get it done—this month!
I would really like to finish this project—and another I designed for our front door—then I will call it quits on the stained glass hobby and get rid of most of the glass and tools. I'm going all-in on the quilting hobby, obviously.
